about

In the process of working on "For Angels Kissing Devils", I encountered sketch ideas that almost made the cut.

A Drought With Sex And Drugs - A song about how over indulgence over the things that make us feel good, like sex and drugs, can bite us in the ass later. This was originally an interlude about fighting temptation I was going to add more to it but I decided to keep it as is.

Worker Ant - Not necessarily illuminati kind of stuff but more so people who can control your every day needs within your environment. They smile and wink while those they can control, they watch carry the hard work and burden they give the "worker ants". I put a big brother twist on it playing the perspective of someone who wants complete control and power over the poor and anyone else who believes in equality amongst others.

Dunesbury - I was always sort of a fan of Trudeau's work on the famous "Doonesbury" comic strip that would take stabs at alot of political concepts. The beat felt like a ridiculous bounce kind of song that would be some sort of odd satire. And I always thought the fact violence is looked at as fan and I wanted to make song that satires that whole notion. Sidenote: I had an idea to get the homie, Homeboy Sandman, to do the third verse of this but I think by the time I revisited this track...I decided to go with some different ideas.

Something Or Nothing - I remember being told I should do something in the vein of protesting and activism. Funny enough, it was an ex who said that. Little know fact: I was turned off to some of it due to the nature of some of the personalities I encountered but I never swayed away from my beliefs. I dropped a few political jewels here and there in the music but I focused on psychological concepts and notions I wanted to throw out there. I wrote this around the time of the Mike Brown incident took place in Ferguson. Had problems with the 2nd verse and finished it up except for 4 bars. Tried to write a third but I didn't. Re-listened to the song and felt like, I can say more on other tracks and how it sounds....is just how it sounds.
